In time, your gums will start to pull away from your teeth, in return this will cause your tooth’s root to be exposed and create spaces between your teeth. These spaces are commonly known as “pockets” and are a breeding ground for harmful, disease-causing bacteria, this type of bacteria can ultimately lead to tooth loss. Even though the symptoms of gum recession are typically the same, the causes of gum recession are a bit more complex.
